If you or someone you know experiences or witnesses an issue while voting or observing, always first bring it to the attention of the Elections Worker and escalate to the Elections Supervisor onsite as necessary. Be kind and patient. Take note of everything that's happening.
If you don't get a resolution, review the VC Elections Division Voter's Rights page to learn about your rights (better yet, do that now so you know your rights!).
To report an incident, call the Ventura County Elections Hotline at 800-500-3555. If it's not urgent (or as added measure), you can send an email to elections@ventura.org.
Report any illegal or fraudulent election activity to the VC Elections Hotline and the Secretary of State and/or the Ventura County Sheriff if necessary. If you are witnessing something illegal in real time you can call VC Sheriff dispatch at (805) 654-9511 to have a deputy sent to the location.
Complete an RTVV Elections Incident Report. Our team will review it as soon as possible. If we determine the incident should be escalated or brought to the attention of Elected Officials, or might call for legal action, we will provide you with instructions on next steps.
Reported incidents will become part of RTVV's overall analysis and informational reporting on the conduct of elections in Ventura County. By submitting a report to RTVV, you are helping us collect eye-witness data that will be used to continue applying pressure to the VC Board of Supervisors and other Elected Officials to make the necessary changes to restore trust in election processes in Ventura County.
Feel free to share this page with anyone and everyone who experiences or witnesses an incident while voting or being an elections observer in our County.
